I was a little nervous about it, but mostly excited to start getting some exercise again. I should have known from the time of day and the crowd of older ladies in the dressing room, that most of my class-mates would be retirees. This only bothered me in that I felt like the odd woman out; otherwise, it was a wonderful, fun, and rambunctious group of people. Mary, the instructor, was really wonderful at introducing me to everyone and helping me figure out the basics.
Turns out this class is more than just about aerobics. At the end of every period, everyone joins in a circle singing "reach out and touch, somebody's hand, make this world a better place, if you can." While challenging my muscles and getting my heart rate up was my main goal, I left with a couple of new friends and a great sense of well-being.
